FearLess Criminal Justice Support Worker

We are looking for candidates who have experience of working with individuals who have experienced domestic violence. You must also have experience of working with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds as well as an excellent understanding of the effects and issues facing those who have experienced domestic violence. You will need to be an effective communicator, highly organised and have effective casework management skills.

You will work closely with other partners and agencies and be expected to ensure the continued development of good partnership working.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement this post.

National Support Manager - North

We are looking for a National Support Manager who will be responsible for leading organisational wide projects and manage local services across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Highland and Moray. The post holder will support and deputise for the Director of Operations.

You will be the national lead for specific areas including developing professional practice standards. The post holder should be able to demonstrate a successful track record of leadership in relevant areas, be able to evidence effective partnership working, and experienced in leading and developing teams. You will have a proven track record in developing quality assurance/performance improvement systems, and experience of implementation and review of policy in line with legislative requirements. Your political awareness and knowledge of research will enable you to identify new business, tender and funding opportunities.

Knowledge and experience of criminal justice and/or youth justice services as well as social care arrangements in Scotland will be an advantage as this post will have responsibility for managing such services.

Shine Mentor

Based in our Edinburgh office, covering Edinburgh and West Lothian areas. The post holder will provide intensive support to women in the criminal justice system, currently serving a prison sentence; remanded into custody or subject of a Community Payback Order and who choose to engage and work with Shine Women’s Mentoring Service. Support needs of women in the criminal justice system vary enormously, examples include: drug and alcohol misuse, experience of abusive and or exploitative relationships, physical and mental issues often alongside chaotic lifestyles resulting from past traumatic experiences. Knowledge of the criminal justice system and experience of working with women within it is desirable.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required along with experience of inter - agency working. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is essential, as work with Shine can present challenges for mentors.

A relevant qualification is desirable but is not essential.

CRM Officer

Criminal Justice Worker - New Routes Mentoring Service

New Routes offers young men serving short term custodial sentences a ‘through-the-gate’ mentoring and support service providing practical and emotional support to help them move back into the community and begin to build a life free of offending.

We currently have the opportunity for a full time mentor to join our Edinburgh team.

Young men referred to New Routes are matched with a mentor while in prison. The mentor will work with the young man to develop their independence and social skills, link to appropriate services, explore aspirations, identify goals and put in place achievable steps to improve their quality of life. This support and advice continues after release from prison where mentors can accompany them to appointments and advocate on their behalf where appropriate to help them with re-integration into their local community and to achieve stability

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required, experience of inter-agency working is essential. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is crucial, as this type of work can be challenging.

Experience of working: with people with complex needs, people who have offended or in a health or social care environment would be preferred.

You may have supervisory responsibility for volunteers and student placements.

A relevant qualification is desirable but is not essential.

Work patterns will vary and may evenings and weekends.

Service Team Leader

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to supervise and manage the staff team and operations within our Edinburgh service. This includes the day to day management and service delivery of teams based in two locations in Edinburgh City. The role will include work across all areas of operation within Sacro.

Responsible to the Service Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations ensuring that a high quality service is provided. Knowledge and experience of criminal and community justice is essential, while awareness of social care arrangements in Scotland is desirable. Duties include line management of service staff, selection and recruitment of staff and volunteers, payroll duties and supporting and monitoring staff to manage a caseload.

You will be a creative self-starter with excellent organisational and communications skills. The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. The successful applicant will be flexible and imaginative in their approach and sensitive and confident in their ability to help service users and staff steer their way through difficult situations.

Evidence of supervising and managing teams is also required.

National Learning Coordinator

Sacro is the voluntary sector leader in promoting community justice across Scotland. Founded in 1971, Sacro provides high quality services and plays a key role in influencing government policy and legislation.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and proactive individual to develop learning and digital initiatives and co-ordinate provision across Sacro.

The post-holder will be responsible for identifying development needs including designing and delivering training, as well as developing material for Sacro’s e-learning system. You will coordinate the programme for the annual staff conference and manage the continuation of the SVQ programme and other qualification requirements across Sacro.

The post-holder will also undertake work in connection to Sacro’s Volunteering Strategy including the process for Investors in Volunteering (IiV) and facilitating Volunteer Supervisors Forums.

Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training is essential as is knowledge of other learning solutions. Candidates should be educated to at least SCQF level 7 or equivalent and hold a professional training qualification. Experience of managing an SVQ programme, or other qualification programme, is desirable.

Housing Support Worker

Sacro in partnership with YPeople is delivering ‘Your Home’ a Homelessness Preventative Service in Edinburgh. The service aims to have a positive impact by providing help to prevent homelessness and promote and encourage independence.

We are currently seeking a team member to assist in the development and provision of the day to day services of Sacro’s Edinburgh Homelessness Early Intervention and Preventative Support Service.

The post holders will provide support to service users who are at risk of future homelessness at the earliest possible stage with the aim of preventing escalation of issues which can lead to homelessness.

Support needs vary enormously but examples include: providing assistance to access benefits and health services/ training/education and employment opportunities; addressing antisocial behaviour, resolving conflict and improving relationships, developing social support networks and general living skills e.g. budgeting, cooking, shopping etc.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work both as part of a team and independently is required experience of partnership and inter-agency working is essential.
