Health Promotion Specialist - Lanarkshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland to deliver effective health promotion (HP) work with gay, bi, males who have sex with males (GBMSM) and the wider LGBT+ community in Lanarkshire. Your role will work towards improving sexual health and preventing HIV transmission. This will be achieved through promoting behaviour change and peer-led educational interventions as part of an integrated HIV prevention and sexual health service.

Key duties will include developing and delivering outreach (such as condom distribution) to ‘at risk’ communities in a variety of settings, including colleges, schools and other community locations, using both face-to-face and digital approaches. The role also requires the delivery of a community testing service - relevant training will be provided. The age range of clients will include young people from S1 secondary school to adult.

This role is fixed term pending confirmation of future funding. Current funding is in place until 31st March 2024.

Are you passionate about politics and pushing for change? Terrence Higgins Trust is looking for a Policy and Campaigns Officer to join our team in Scotland. This role will work closely with our partners and affected communities across the country to focus on key policy issues related to HIV, sexual health and bloodborne viruses.

Alongside our partners you will define our policy priorities, lead our engagement with the Scottish Parliament and influence policy and practice.

We are looking for an experienced policy and public affairs professional with a passion for human rights and health policy.

The role is fixed-term and part-time (21 hours) and will be based in our Glasgow or Dundee offices, with frequent travel to Edinburgh.

Living Well Specialist (Skills Development)

Designed and led by its users and driven by three core principles, People-led, Strengths-based and Connected, Peer Support Scotland by Terrence Higgins Trust has been redefining services for people living with HIV and/or another blood borne virus (BBV) since its inception in 2017. We are pleased to invite applications from reliable, creative and compassionate social care professionals to join the project's small staff team and take the lead on its rolling and varied programme of skills development activities.

Working alongside three other Living Well Specialists whose areas of responsibility are BBV Support, Volunteering, and Peer Support, and in close consultation with the project's service users, the successful candidate will have particular focus on the design, development and roll out of a newly funded Scotland Wide digital skills development offering.

Peer Support Scotland is supported by the National Lottery, the Gannochy Trust and the Scottish Government's Self Management Fund. Funding is currently in place until November 2023.

Terrence Higgins Trust invites applications from qualified counsellors to join its UK wide therapies service. Based in Glasgow, you will work with adult clients on a range of issues such as HIV diagnosis, sexuality, identity, chemsex and sexual trauma, delivered through a blend of online and centre based appointments. You will be part of Terrence Higgins Trust's national Living Well team and will also work closely with local management and colleagues at the charity's Scotland Hub.

This role is planned to commence in July, with interviews to commence on the week beginning 7th June 2021.
