A unique opportunity to promote and improve joint working across public and third sector services in North Ayrshire. This post will deliver further development of the provision of third sector services, based on need, and ensure they would be easily accessible for those who need them most.

The development officer will be directly involved in supporting connections to community capacity building and identifying collaborative opportunities to help establish joint working across services. The officer would operate mainly within North Ayrshire localities reporting to Arran Community & Voluntary Service (partners in TSI North Ayrshire) as employers and working closely with their lead officer to engage widely with community groups, organisations, social enterprise and charities which provide or wish to provide services and support for health and wellbeing needs. It will be important for the officer to engage regularly with Health & Social Care partners to monitor the success of such provisions.

The Development Officer will carry out actions which will assist in achieving the outcomes contained in the Health and Social Care (HSCP) Strategic Plan, focusing on activities within community settings and additionally engaging with various localities, third sector forums and partnership provider forums as required. Provide and promote information and events relating to both the Health and Social Care Integration agenda, and the Core Activities of TSI North Ayrshire.

The role and function of this post is as agreed through the Lead Officer for the 3rd Sector (the CEO ACVS), in conjunction with the Health and Social Care Partnership Strategic Lead Officer.

  • Record information, monitor and report on progress of developments
  • Supply information as required to maintain the client database
  • Helping third sector organisations start, develop and grow capacity. Co-producing community-based solutions for health and social care, building on assets and strengths approaches
  • Delivering shared learning opportunities with third sector and partners as a result of the recent Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund
  • Work with key partners to deliver TSI contribution to each joint development plan – i.e. Locality Plans, HSCP Strategic Plan
  • Encouraging and involving volunteers
  • Finding suitable funding or directing to funding sources
  • Maintaining and developing key partnerships and strategic collaborations
  • Undertake evidence gathering for MILO to enable progress assessment and reporting
  • Maintain a portfolio of key third sector organisations on MILO database
  • Identify potential projects for strategic collaborations and where appropriate, facilitate delivery
  • Design and promote activities which address priorities, ensuring they are in line with strategic objective and based on our core services
  • Work directly with 4 of the 6 North Ayrshire Locality Forums/Locality Partnership Forums
  • With the localities, identify local priorities for third sector voluntary organisations
  • Work with groups, organisations and partners to support developments which bridge gaps in provision and address the locality priorities
  • Support training, advice and information on governance, funding, legal issues and best practice
  • Monitor, record and report on progress of each development plan

General

  • Provide information gained from events, partner engagement and strategic collaborations for use in third sector communications, HSCP communication, annual performance reports and MILO
  • Facilitating the delivery of various Forums and collaboration activities
  • Respond to enquiries, using the correct procedure
  • Liaise with TSI staff to learn and communicate funding information
  • Using lessons learned from maintaining the portfolio, contribute to the continuous improvement of TSI activities

Personal Development

  • Keep abreast of best practice approaches to community consultation and engagement, capability and capacity building and working in partnership
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the work of the Health and Social Care Partnership and the Integration Joint Board
  • Support a culture where improvements can be made as a result of lessons identified, captured, assessed and implemented
