Capability Scotland is ‘here for disabled people’ and provides care and support to disabled people throughout Scotland in a range of community based and residential services. We also provide education and employment services.

Support Worker - Oakfield Day Service

We are looking to recruit three support workers for our Oakfield service in Kelty. We have one 32 hour contract and two relief contracts available.

You will work as part of a team, providing a safe and caring environment for our customers with disabilities. This will include assisting individuals to access community-based activities and resources. You will need to provide personal care (including intimate care) and to support customers with aspects of their general welfare.

The role will involve health related practices, including mealtime assistance and administration of medication as and when required. Full training will be provided. The role will involve a degree of physical activity, which includes pushing wheelchairs and providing physical support to our customers.

The service is open from 8am to 5pm.

Key Requirements

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is preferable but not essential, as is a willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities.

You should have a care related SVQ Level 3, or the willingness to gain this qualification. You should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

A full driving license is essential due to the nature of the role. Capability Scotland is willing to consider alternative arrangements that achieve the same outcomes for those candidates that have a disability, which prevents them from having a driving license. Applicants should be comfortable driving a small buses.

Our Dumfries & Galloway Service works with disabled people to engage with employment, education, volunteering and activities of their choice in their communities.

About the role

We are searching for a Service Manager who will manage our team and will lead the way into new opportunities. You will ensure that our people continue to receive the exceptional, person-centred support we provide. As well as this, you will be a champion of the local community, with the curiosity, vision, and confidence to search for and nurture service growth.

We are looking for someone who is keen to implement innovation while maintaining a positive environment and service. This role is a real gift for someone who wants to put a vision into practice. If you think you fit the bill - we want to hear from you.

Team Leader - Craigmillar

We are currently looking to recruit a Team Leader to support the Service Manager in the operation of our Craigmillar Hub Service. Our service in Edinburgh supports individuals to access a range of meaningful activities.

It is an exciting time for us as we explore ways to develop our relationships with our people and we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Team Leader to join us.

This may mean flexibility in terms of location, shift pattern, focus, and deployment, which may include evenings or weekends.

You will be required to co-ordinate and supervise a team of support staff in delivering a high standard of social care practice using a person-centred approach that reflects individual customer's needs, wants, and aspirations.

A key part of this role is to coach, monitor, mentor and develop the skill base within the staff team, you will do this by displaying leadership skills such as role modelling, decision making, being an effective communicator, having a positive attitude, commitment and confidence in the role.

You may also be required from time to time to deliver direct support to our customers.

Key Requirements

· Previous experience in a supervisory/management role is desirable

· Care related SVQ Level 4 or equivalent or have the ability and willingness to achieve this qualification
