The Citizens Advice network in Scotland is the largest independent advice service in the country. Citizens Advice Scotland is a charity within this network – we act as a national organisation supporting and representing the service as a whole and the interests of citizens. At the heart of the network there are 59 individual citizens advice bureau organisations across Scotland, all operating as independent charities in their own right, and generally focusing on providing support directly to clients. Each of these organisations is a member of Citizens Advice Scotland. Also providing significant added value are the national elements of the service run out of Citizens Advice Scotland, such as the Extra Help Unit. We believe that every citizen should have access to free, impartial and confidential advice that helps them make informed decisions, whenever they need it and however they choose to access it.

We are currently recruiting for a full time Senior Officer (Campaigns) to join the communications team to successfully plan and deliver campaigns for Citizens Advice Scotland and the Citizens Advice network.

You will have extensive experience of developing campaign strategies, implementing and evaluating campaigns as well as using a variety of campaigning tools and methods, including eCampaigning. You will also have a great experience of writing tenders, scoring and awarding work, managing external agencies and suppliers. Additionally, you will possess excellent communication and stakeholder engagement and networking skills to be able to build collaborative and strong internal and external relationships.

We are currently recruiting for a full time Policy Manager (Strong Communities) to join the impact team. The Strong Communities Team within Citizens Advice Scotland supports strengthening local communities including emphasising the value of the local bureaux at the centre of those communities. Current areas of work for the team include postal and telecommunications policy; access to justice; and ensuring better linkages between healthcare services and the Citizens Advice Network in Scotland.

The Impact team at Citizens Advice Scotland seeks to achieve positive change through two main routes:

  • Informing and empowering individuals to take action through information, education and campaigning
  • Changing policy, practice and law

We work with governments, regulators and business at a UK and Scottish level on improving areas of particular detriment, undertake research and deliver awareness and education campaigns.

The Policy Manager is responsible for delivery of the policy or advocacy strategy in the policy area, which will include development and management of workplan and resources, developing policy positions and undertaking effective advocacy.

Money Advice Training and Engagement Officer

We are currently recruiting for a full time Money Advice Training and Engagement Officer to join the training team to provide a variety of learning opportunities and engagement sessions to support Citizens Advice Bureaux to adopt delivery of multi-channel debt advice services, and in meeting Citizen’s Advice Scotland’s and external quality standards for advice work.

The role is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

You will have experience of training provision: needs analysis, instructional design, delivery, presentations, group work facilitation and evaluation. You will be able to demonstrate a good level of IT literacy (MS Office and other relevant software) and a great ability to facilitate successful change management.

The Energy Policy Manager is responsible for delivery of the policy or advocacy strategy for energy policies areas, which will include development and management of workplan and resources, developing policy positions and undertaking effective advocacy.

The successful candidate will have a significant experience in a similar role at managerial level and demonstrable knowledge and understanding of relevant Energy policy areas across the UK and Scotland, including any associated regulations. You will also have a great ability to effectively interpret quantitative and qualitative data and to generate and lead on policy positions and advocacy strategies as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
