East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action was launched on 1st May 2012 from a merger of the former East Dunbartonshire Council for Voluntary Service and the Volunteer Centre East Dunbartonshire. The new organisation is part of the network of Third Sector Interfaces across Scotland and its membership is made up of local individuals, volunteers, voluntary and community groups and organisations.

Purpose of role: This role will recruit, train and co-ordinate dissemination of the East Dunbartonshire Health and well being status information which has been gathered through the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Adult Health and Wellbeing Survey. The dissemination of the information will be delivered through Health & Wellbeing volunteers within and to communities and then to support small projects that arise as a consequence of that engagement.

EDVA is the Third Sector Interface organisation for East Dunbartonshire. We help to grow and support community organisations, charities and social enterprises in the local area, through the provision of information, advice, training and signposting. We also help to connect people with volunteering opportunities and help organisations to develop and fill volunteer opportunities, and we ensure that the Third Sector has a voice within community planning and the health and social care partnership.

We now have an opportunity for someone to join our team as a part time development officer. This role will suit someone with a keen belief in the value of the Third Sector, who has great interpersonal skills and enjoys variety in their work.

Youth Volunteer Development Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Volunteer Department of East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action (EDVA) for a Youth Volunteer Development Officer. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join our amazing team. The post will support local young people aged 16-25 years old to become effective leaders of change within their local community through volunteering.

As the Youth Volunteer Development Officer, you will be used to working in collaboration with other organisations and have experience managing young people, particularly those who are ‘hard-to-reach’ or not socially or economically engaged.

You will be a good organiser, used to tracking project outcomes and write brief reports for managers/funders as required. You will enjoy presenting to partners and employers as well as building and maintaining relationships with a view to securing good outcomes and signposting, volunteering roles, training opportunities and ultimately employment opportunities.

Against the background of COVID19 and lockdown which has imposed severe restrictions on young people, this post will play a crucial role in allowing young people to raise their confidence and fulfill their potential.

Due to the impending retirement of the current post holder, we are recruiting an enthusiastic Chief Officer to lead the TSI and its local stakeholders forward as we enter a period of ongoing adjustment and change.

The post holder will be able to provide day to day operational management for the EDVA team, collaborative and dynamic leadership within the sector and informed contributions to strategic discussions with local and national organisations in line with Scottish Government funding criteria.

Community Links Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Links Worker to work in a Befriending capacity for young people in East Dunbartonshire.

East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action (EDVA), in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), is developing a new Befriending Service in the area to work with children and young adults, aged up to 18 years who are experiencing difficulties in their lives, or who are at risk from becoming socially isolated.

The Community Links Worker will work with the new service (which will be attached to EDVA’s existing befriending service for adults) in assessing, recruiting, and matching carefully selected adult volunteers who will offer befriending support to young people.

The postholder will ensure that befriending volunteers provide encouragement for young people to undertake new activities, help them gain confidence and increase their self-esteem. They will also work with volunteers in ensuring young people develop social skills and enable them to re-engage with their local community.

Against the background of COVID19 and lockdown which has imposed severe restrictions on young people, this post will play a crucial role in allowing young people to increase their social connectedness.
