Resilience Building Coordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone who will spend time within our food, foodbank & larder projects working alongside volunteers, clients, agencies, schools, and churches. This role aims to strengthen and develop our signposting activities to help us become more effective in connecting people with a range of help within our community. By encouraging and establishing links with our community this role will allow for the right person to help clients beyond the projects that we offer, helping to alleviate the underlying drivers of poverty and other disadvantages.

Role description:

  • Connect local organisations to clients and help to develop support channels.
  • Identify the needs of clients and seek innovative solutions, for example: Liaise with our community food project staff to offer cooking classes and offer access other life skills projects.
  • Deliver a client centred approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of advice and the activities that we offer.
  • Ensure that information is relevant, up to date and in a user-friendly format for both clients and volunteers.
  • Identify and build good working relationships with community groups.
  • Provide relevant services and activities for partnership work.
  • Develop and enhance activities to support client’s needs.
  • Coproduce plans that help clients to address their pathway out of poverty by empowering and building resilience.
  • Work along-side the Foodbank Development Coordinator and deputise in their absence.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of basic signposting offered by volunteers and the effectiveness of the Resilience Building Coordinators enhanced activities through statistical evidence.
  • Support and train a team of volunteers.
  • Create effective signposting activities that will improve our clients’ situations.
  • Represent The Gate Charity at partner organisation meetings.
  • Assist with other reasonable duties as specified by the Chief Officer

Essential requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience of multi-agency working, providing information, advice, or guidance to the public, and be knowledgeable of the local support services.
  • As this is a new role, you will need to be self-motivated, flexible, and be able to carry out responsibilities using your own initiative, however supervision will be provided.
  • Experience of engagement and working with statutory and non-statutory organisations.
  • Have compassion & empathy.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable members of the public.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to plan time and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident IT user
  • Driving license and use of a vehicle due to occasional multi-site working

Administration & Volunteer Coordinator

Job role:

You will be someone with experience in coordinating volunteers and office administration, with a commitment to making a difference to the local community. This role requires flexibility and the ability to use own initiative whilst working constructively in a team.

You will have creative and enterprising ideas about the services that we run and plan, and have the ability to help grow our vision. You will enthuse and lead volunteers by example.

Beyond that, it’s all about your professionalism, positive energy, natural ability to get along with people and determination to make a difference.

Specific responsibilities

  • Sourcing and recruiting volunteers
  • Collecting information on volunteer availabilities and skills
  • Arrange appropriate training and induction
  • Produce schedules for everyday activities across all projects
  • Assign responsibilities to the right people
  • Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions
  • Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed
  • Disseminate information for upcoming events
  • Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information
  • Ensure the purposes of the organisation and its actions are clearly communicated
  • Carry out administration tasks for projects & support administration volunteers to complete their tasks.
  • Appraise volunteers
  • Assist the Chief Officer with facilities related matters
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as appropriate
