We deliver our vision of helping our customers live their life to the full through the hard work and dedication of our Support Workers who provide our customers with a wide variety of assistance such as personal hygiene, dressing, medication prompts and light household chores in line with their personal support plans.

Blackwood are currently looking for Support Workers to join our Care Services teams to support our customers living in their own homes in the community and/or in our Care Homes. We operate care services in Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth & Kinross, Edinburgh, Stirling, Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Ayrshire and Inverclyde.

Blackwood currently have a vacancy for an IT Assistant in our Business Solutions team, this role will be based in our regional office in Dundee. As we are award-winning investors in innovation and technology, our IT Assistant will play an important role by providing direct and remote technical assistance to Blackwood users for software, hardware and networking to our services across the organisation – a key deliverable within the Business Plan.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of working in a 1st line IT support environment
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communication/problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and reactive to urgent issues
  • Confident and proficient in IT systems as listed below
  • Good working knowledge of IT best practices and compliance with relevant legislation

What IT knowledge and skills do I need to have?

  • IT Helpdesk / Remote Desktop Support
  • Administration and maintenance of Windows 7 and 10 in a managed environment
  • Administration, maintenance and deployment of mobile devices via MDM (Android/iOS)
  • User management and support of Citrix XenApp version 7 and above
  • Experience in supporting Microsoft Office365 suite (hybrid configuration)

The IT Assistant will work with the Business Solutions team to deliver our Strategy and Business Plan by ensuring all our IT systems are functioning efficiently and effectively.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service and relationship building skills with all Blackwood teams. There is a requirement to travel in this post and while the ability to drive is desirable, it is not essential.

Volunteer Co-ordinator

We are looking for a confident, and enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to develop and run our volunteering programme. Initially starting the programme in our West Regional Office in Glasgow, the Volunteer Coordinator will work across the 3 regions to develop and co-ordinate our Volunteering Programme.

Working with the volunteering project team and reporting to the Head of Human Resources & Organisational Development, this is an exciting opportunity to use volunteers to help people to live more independently. We currently don’t have a volunteering programme in place so we’re looking for someone who can shape the role, define our policies, and enable our volunteering programme to get off to a flying start.

Your work will be varied including building partnerships with other volunteering programmes and charity partners, recruiting and training volunteers, supporting funding applications, and working with our services to identify where volunteers can help more people lead independent lives. The funding we have received is to help us develop our volunteering approach in 3 key areas:

Digital Inclusion – volunteers will help increase the digital skills of our customers, encouraging them to grow in confidence in their approach to digital technology, particularly in care

Social time and Befriending – digital inclusion will result in a decrease in social isolation, particularly for our tenants and care at home customers and using volunteers within our care homes will boost social time for our residents

Home and garden – volunteers will support our customers in the day-to-day aspects of their life, such as keeping their home and garden up to a good standard

The right person for this role will have some understanding of volunteering within the charity sector, be an organised self-starter who’s able to work using their own initiative, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to build long term positive relationships.

We currently have a Housing Assistant vacancy based within our East Region office.

The Housing Assistant brings real value to our Housing Services team through the delivery of excellent housing customer service. Working in a busy and fast-paced environment, you will provide clear and accurate advice and assistance to our customers as well as handle all housing service enquiries to a professional standard.

Your role is to oversee administrative services relating to all aspects of tenancies, including housing applications, allocations, repairs, rent accounting and records, Housing Benefit and terminations. You will ensure compliance with Blackwood’s rent arrears policy and procedures, assisting Housing Officers with preventative and early arrears control actions. All records of feedback, compliments and complaints are to be maintained in line with Blackwood procedures to achieve performance standards and targets.

The successful candidate will possess strong relationship building skills by developing rapport with our Housing, Care and Corporate Services teams and external agencies. You will also contribute significantly to Blackwood’s tenant participation strategy and have the opportunity to engage with our award-winning CleverCogs™ system as well as our pioneering Blackwood House.
