Employability Team Manager (Tayside)

An exciting opportunity has come up for an Employability Team Manager to join an established and successful employability team in Tayside. Barnardo's Works Tayside is part of Barnardo's ETS (Barnardo's Employment, Training & Skills). Barnardo's Works is an employability service working in partnership with associated employers to provide young people aged 15-29 with a unique blend of personal support and accredited training, matched with quality work experience and the opportunity for sustainable, independent employment. The Service was launched in Dundee in October 2007 and has gone from strength to strength. The team will be delivering a range of different funded programmes across Tayside in 2021/2022, so we need an experienced leader to work alongside the Service Manager. You will support the team to successfully deliver positive outcomes for our young people across several programmes in Tayside.

Essential candidate criteria unless indicated:

  • A proven track record in delivering Employability Programmes for young people aged 15-29
  • Experience in delivering publicly funded employability services
  • Experienced in delivering SDS- or ESF-funded employability services (desirable)
  • Staff training/coaching and/or supervisory/management skills and experience
  • Staff training/coaching and/or supervisory/management experience in the Employability Sector (desirable)
  • Experience in leading and/or motivating colleagues to achieve employability targets, e.g. starts, outputs, outcomes and milestones
  • Experience in delivering, assessing and internally verifying SQA employability qualifications, such as Steps to Work and the Certificate of Work Readiness (desirable)
  • Experience in engaging with stakeholders in the employability sector to generate referrals and to facilitate and promote partnership working

Key Duties to include:

  • Line managing and coaching staff, conducting monthly supervision meetings and performance development reviews.
  • Supporting with the design and roll-out of new programmes, working closely with the Service Manager to ensure that the needs of funders are being met.
  • Engaging with stakeholders across Tayside to promote the service to generate referrals and to identify potential funding opportunities.
  • Managing referrals supporting the team to carry out initial assessments with young people.
  • Leading the team to ensure that the required starts, outputs, outcomes and milestones for each programme are achieved on profile; supporting the team as required by carrying a caseload and delivering employability support.
  • Delivering SQA employability qualifications as required to support the team in the role of SQA Qualification Assessor.
  • Internally verifying SCQF Level 3 & 4 employability qualifications in the role of SQA Qualification Internal Verifier.
  • Monitoring programme compliance and conducting regular file sampling.
  • Adherence to health and safety, GDPR and people processes.
  • Responding to any safeguarding concerns and supporting the team to ensure processes are followed and that the safety and wellbeing of service users is central to any decisions made.
