Child and Family Worker

Do you enjoy being in a changing and dynamic environment? Are you passionate about improving the lives of babies, children, young people and their families with life limiting conditions? Do you have the ability to engage and work alongside people?

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join the Family Support Team to help develop our service for children with life-limiting conditions and their families and also to work alongside our multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive service.

About You

You will ideally be qualified to a minimum of an HND level in a relevant subject area, and will have palliative care experience of working with children with complex care requirements. Experienced in working with families at times of acute stress and loss, you will have strong communication skills with the ability to manage highly complex and sensitive information and will have awareness of counselling and therapeutic interventions currently available. You will be able to work independently as well as being an enthusiastic team player. You will need to be highly organised with the ability to deal with competing demands in order to co-ordinate, develop and deliver a service provision designed to assist with issues related to the baby, child or young person’s condition and the impact it has upon the wider family.

Community Fundraiser

At CHAS, we are on a mission. We’re going to make sure wherever there is a child in Scotland with a life shortening condition their family know about the vital support we can provide. To do this we need to reach into every community across Scotland and this is where you come in! We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual to join the Community Fundraising team.

You will be responsible for getting out into the local community, raising awareness and engaging your supporters in their fundraising! You will grow and develop existing relationships and create new community fundraising activity alongside an amazing Fundraising and Communications team. You will manage a fantastic group of existing CHAS volunteers and grow your volunteer networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relationship management of existing and new community fundraising supporters and volunteers
  • Create new, cost-effective, community-based fundraising activities within a specific geographic area, ensuring contacts are established and maintained.
  • In line with the community fundraising strategy, take the lead on a specific income stream, developing materials and fundraising activities.
  • Provide market-intelligence and research on the community fundraising function, enabling future planning of activities within CHAS.
  • Regularly present complex fundraising information to groups, including existing and potential supporters.
  • Delegate work to volunteers, ensuring appropriate support mechanisms are in place and that individual skills are utilised appropriately.

About you

In order to successfully drive fundraising and support for CHAS in your area, you will work co-operatively with colleagues, form meaningful relationships with others, demonstrate initiative, act with integrity and be accountable for your actions and decisions. You will also have:

  • A HND or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of growing external financial support by developing new contacts and networks.
  • Advanced level of communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software applications.
  • Highly developed inter-personal skills.

This role will work closely with the Associate Director for External Affairs, CHAS CEO and the senior leadership team. The Policy and Public affairs Manager will:

• Support the delivery of CHAS’s influencing strategy

• Support CHAS’s engagement with parliamentarians, local government, policy makers, civil servants and other stakeholders

• Ensure that CHAS develops and delivers on our policy and advocacy strategy

We are looking for a dynamic individual and excellent communicator with strong analytical skills. In order to help us achieve our mission while representing the interests of the children and families we support, you will have:

Senior Community Fundraiser

As our new Senior Community Fundraiser, you will be instrumental in achieving this vision.

As one of two Senior posts in the community fundraising team, this role is integral to the implementation of our five year Joy of Giving strategy. Based in Kinross, the role supports a team of Community Fundraisers across the North of Scotland to achieve our ambitious income targets.

About You

You will be an excellent relationship builder with highly developed communication skills who has significant community fundraising experience and knowledge of the processes involved in the successful delivery and follow-up of community fundraising activity.

You will be driven and self-motivated, comfortable making decisions within the agreed delegation levels. You will also have experience of managing volunteers within a volunteer-supported community fundraising environment, and a high level of knowledge of the voluntary sector within Scotland.
