Health in Mind is looking for an outstanding Social Prescribing Development Worker to join our Community Mental Health and Wellbeing team working in Midlothian and the Scottish Borders.

This is an exciting post, part of a new partnership funded by The Big Lottery, working across Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Social Prescribing Development Worker will work one day per week in Midlothian with our established Access Point team and three days per week developing a new Social Prescribing Service in the Scottish Borders.

You will have experience supporting vulnerable people; you will be able to understand their diverse and complex needs and use a social prescribing approach to meet these needs; you will be experienced in monitoring and evaluation and setting, achieving and reporting on plans.

Alongside this, you will be dynamic, resilient, creative, a good networker and communicator, able to manage risk and balance the demands of operational developmental and partnership issues.

re:discover Borders is a recovery focussed befriending service, helping people to take the first steps towards meeting new people, rediscovering old hobbies and developing new interests and connections.

The successful candidate will recruit, train and manage volunteers; support service users; and manage and support volunteer/ service user matches.

The successful candidate will have experience of recruiting and managing volunteers; recording, monitoring and evaluation of outcomes, an understanding of mental health provision in the Scottish Borders including voluntary and statutory services, alongside other essential experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

The first alliance in Scotland, Future Pathways is a partnership of Health in Mind, Penumbra, the Mental Health Foundation, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership and the Scottish Government. Future Pathways is funded by the Scottish Government.

The Support Coordinator plays a key role in building trusted relationships with in-care survivors and facilitating access to resources, services and activities that meet each person’s individual needs; forging new links and developing innovative approaches in partnership with other professionals and organisations.

We are now seeking a Support Co-ordinator with substantive experience in of mental health, including trauma related work, you will be experienced in using outcomes focused approaches to assessment and support.

Passionate about the principles of person-centred support, personalisation and collaboration, your strong organisational and prioritising skills will be complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside good listening skills. Knowing how important wellbeing is to resilience, you will prioritise self-care and hold boundaries in all areas of work and encourage others to do the same.

You will require a clean driving licence and access to a car, since travel throughout the area will be expected, for which a standard mileage rate will be paid. Flexibility in working hours will also be expected in order to meet the needs of people accessing the fund.

We are recruiting a full time Peer Support Worker to complement the client centred services provided by substance misuse agencies in Midlothian. We are looking for a motivated Peer Support Worker who have a lived experience of substance (drugs or alcohol) issues and are at least 1 year free from problematic substance misuse. The successful candidate will offer both one to one and motivational support to those affected by substance misuse issues in Midlothian. The successful applicants will have experience and understanding of substance misuse, the ability to work in a flexible manner and adhere to a recovery and harm reduction approach.
