The Yard is a charity providing adventure play opportunities for disabled children, young people and their families in the east of Scotland.
The Head of Fundraising and Communications plays a pivotal role in the overall strategic development and growth of the organisation. The post will provide leadership to the Fundraising and Communications team and leads on Fundraising strategy and internal and external communications. He/she will ensure that The Yard has a diverse fundraising portfolio and can identify opportunities to work with partners on areas of common interest. He/she will manage a broad communications programme across media, public affairs, stakeholder management, website and social media, internal communications and campaigning, and ensure The Yard has strong systems and processes in place to engage with their community. He/she will ensure The Yard has a balanced programme of regional events.

The Yard is an award-winning charity that runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in the east of Scotland. Since we opened in 1986, our services have grown significantly, but we will always retain our holistic approach and ethos of child-centred and child-led play services. In July 2016 we expanded our services beyond our Edinburgh base.
The purpose of this post is to supervise the development, planning and delivery of sessions in our new setting in The Yard Kirkcaldy. The successful applicant will be one of two Play Team Leaders who lead, supervise, and deliver, with other members of the Play Team, a range of inclusive social, recreational and adventure play-based activities both on The Yard’s premises in Kirkcaldy. We seek individuals who can initiate and support opportunities for children and young people that are innovative and engaging for the disabled children and young people involved, and truly led by their interests and needs.

We offer disabled children and their siblings the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a wellsupported environment. Since we opened in Canonmills in 1986, our services have grown significantly, but we will always retain our holistic approach and ethos of child-centred and child-led play services. We also run a pay-to-play service on a Sunday called Sunday Funday.
One of the keys to our success is a warm and friendly welcome from our front of house to those who come to see us, every time they visit. The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth running of this front of house function, as well as providing general support and administrative duties to the functions of The Yard. Our building in Edinburgh is a fast-paced environment where a warm welcome is key. It is an integral part of the organisation that supports the wider team.
The Yard is an award winning organisation that runs adventure play centres for disabled children in Scotland. Our flagship play centre is in Edinburgh and in in recent years we have launched weekend services in Dundee and Fife run from community spaces. The Yard provides care, support, fun and friendship in equal measure while promoting challenge and personal growth in environments which value independence and celebrates the capabilities and achievements of each individual child.
We are looking for an experienced Office and Facilities Manager who can support our organisation as it grows. We are looking for a flexible, dynamic self-starter who understands the needs of a service that supports disabled children and young people and their families. Central to this role is commitment and a pro-active approach, and good networking and communication skills to build relationships will be key to its success. You will work creatively across the organisation, ensuring the effective performance of our administrative and facilities functions.
