The Role:

The Support Assistant role provides an opportunity to be part of well-established Supported Accommodation Projects.

In Edinburgh, our Bedrock Project supports homeless and care experienced young people to develop independent living skills and transition to permanent accommodation.

In East Lothian, our My Space Project supports care experienced young people into shared accommodation with a supportive flat mate, where they can learn independent living skills and transition to permanent accommodation.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who will be responsible for:

- Building trusting relationships with young people

- Supporting young people to settle in and thrive in their supported accommodation tenancy

- Providing practical support to assist young people to develop independent living skills

- Adopting a ‘whatever it takes’ approach and putting young people’s rights first

- Working in a psychologically and trauma informed manner

Community and Individual Fundraiser (Regional)

The Rock Trust is looking to employ an enthusiastic and motivated Community and Individual Fundraiser to work as part of the Fundraising team. The Community and Individual Fundraiser will focus primarily on working with the team to increase our presence in the communities in which we work, with a particular focus on East and West Lothian. They will be responsible for securing new local partnerships, recruiting and stewarding fundraisers, and establishing new opportunities/events to fundraise for our work, as well as increasing income from individual donors and driving forward regular giving.

This role will be based between both our offices in Edinburgh and West Lothian. Some travel to other parts of Scotland will be required.

Project Worker – Youth Homelessness Support

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Project Worker to join our new service in Perth.

The Youth Homelessness Support Service, funded by Perth and Kinross Council aims to reduce youth homelessness. The Project Worker will work with young people aged 16-25 who are:

  • Homeless and require support to access a tenancy,
  • Living in temporary accommodation, supporting them to move on from this unstable accommodation into a permanent home
  • Living at home and experiencing family issues that may result in homelessness.

The Project Worker will be a leading member of the team, establishing positive relationships with partner agencies across Perth, working to ensure that youth homelessness rates reduce, and that a young person’s experience of homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring.

The Project Worker will be responsible for engaging with partner organisations and managing the referral and support process. The Project Worker will be responsible for case management and will guide the work of Support Assistants and Volunteers to ensure that support is assigned quickly and appropriately.

This post is ideal for a self-starter, who has previous experience of working directly with children and young people either in a paid or voluntary capacity and is looking for a new challenge.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Support Assistant to join our new service in Perth.

The Youth Homelessness Support Service, funded by Perth and Kinross Council, aims to reduce youth homelessness. The Support Assistant will provide practical and emotional support to young people aged 16-25 who are:

  • Homeless and require support to access a tenancy,
  • Living in temporary accommodation, supporting them to move on from this unstable accommodation into a permanent home
  • Living at home and experiencing family issues that may result in homelessness.

The Support Assistant will be a key member of the team, working directly with young people on a 1:1 basis across Perth and Kinross. The Support Assistant will work in the community, in partner organisations, in young people’s tenancies and in the family home. The aim of the Support Assistant is to ensure that a young person’s experience of homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring.

The Support Assistant will work alongside the Project Worker and will be guided on support requirements. The Support Assistant will provide practical support to young people and the majority of their work will be working directly with young people and families. The Project Worker is responsible for case management and will lead on coordinating with other agencies.

Service Manager (West and North)

The post: We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate leader who possesses a detailed knowledge of the homelessness & housing sector. Ideally the candidate should have considerable experience managing youth services and come with a demonstrable track record of staff and service management.

The Service Manager will be responsible for the effective management and development of services under their area of responsibility and, working with the Assistant Director, they will also be responsible for developing new service provision within their area.

Peer Mentoring Project Worker

The Peer Mentoring Project Worker will complement therapeutic support within the Health & Wellbeing Team by recruiting and training volunteers to work along-side the therapists, increasing access to services. This includes setting goals specific to the young person’s needs relating to self-development, connecting with others, learning and work and physical health. Through weekly meetings, peer mentors will develop a positive, meaningful relationship aimed at improving the young person’s mental wellbeing, social confidence and reducing isolation.

We’re looking for a candidate with experience of volunteer recruitment, training and management, ideally related to peer mentoring, although training will be provided. The ideal candidate should have experience in the youth work sector (or related sector with a youth work focus). We need a personable, outward facing colleague who is comfortable working alone as well as part of a team.
