We are looking for a committed, practical, people person to come and join the team at Langside Parish Church on a flexible, part-time basis to support our work. The purpose of the role is to facilitate the day-to-day functioning of the Church and Finn’s Place.

As a faith-based organization and place of Christian worship, our beliefs are the foundation of our work. The post-holder will be expected to be aware that faith is important element in serving and supporting everyone who comes through the door. Being a familiar and friendly face to all who visit and use the Church and Finn’s Place

This position requires a professional and organised attitude, a people focus and an ability to work in an ever-changing environment, where multi-tasking, sound decision making, self-motivation and discretion are essential

This position is permanent with annualised hours of 880. This will average 20 hours per week, worked over 4 afternoons & 4 evenings per week (Mon-Thur.). Some flexibility in working hours will be required, including the availability to work some weekends. There will be a 6-month probationary period with a 3-month review.

There are no formal requirements for qualifications or experience. However, experience in a customer facing role and building maintenance would be advantageous. We wish to encourage applications from individuals from all nationalities, all faiths or none.

The following presents an outline of the main duties of Caretaker:

1. Opening and closing the building as necessary, ensuring a staff presence on the premises is maintained.
2. Providing front of house support when the church is open to visitors or when tradespeople etc visit the premises, including answering the phone and taking messages.
3. Preparation of rooms for services, meetings and events held by the congregation, Finn’s Place or third parties.
4. Tidying and cleaning the premises after events, including picking up litter in the garden.
5. Clean kitchen, stairs, upstairs landing including office & balcony regularly.
6. Small maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, setting the heating etc
7. Replenishment of consumable products, such as toilet roll, hand soap, washing up liquid etc.
8. Completion of regular health and safety maintenance checks to be recorded on the computer.
9. Reporting of any damage to the building and its contents/equipment, or issues with the utilities, to the CDD of Finns Place and the Buildings Convenor, and Health & Safety Convenor.
10. Such additional duties as may reasonably be requested by the employer.
