Welfare Benefits Adviser

To provide a welfare benefit advice and income maximisation service for individuals within Inverclyde who are experiencing financial difficulties and are at risk of financial exclusion.

The Adviser will support a wide range of clients from many different backgrounds, maximising their household incomes through identifying and claiming additional welfare benefits, local authority benefits and Tax Credits, and supporting them with all aspects of their advice journey including benefit checks, form filling, challenging decisions and written/verbal advocacy support.

Financial Fitness, Inverclyde's independent welfare benefit and money advice charity have supported thousands of vulnerable individuals and successfully claimed over £55,000,000 worth of unclaimed benefits and other financial gains for these claimants in the past twenty years.

Financial Fitness’s voluntary Management Committee now require a new Manager to oversee the whole day-to-day running of the organisation with a wide range of management tasks including:

  • Managing a multi-disciplinary team of around 9 staff and volunteers,
  • Overseeing the strategic development of the organisation,
  • Fundraising and managing multiple contracts/projects,
  • Procurement and finance,
  • Running benefit take up campaigns,
  • Recruitment, selection and development of staff,
  • Daily line management of staff,
  • Performance improvement,
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Budget delivery and control,
  • Succession planning and sustainability,
  • Data protection (GDPR),
  • Contracts and personnel,
  • Ensuring best practice in the field of advice work,
  • Identifying and delivering new service models,
  • Risk assessments,
  • Health and Safety,
  • Publicity and marketing,
  • Social Media,
  • Ensuring the organisation meets its legal requirements (Companies House, OSCR etc.)
