About the role
This is a varied and exciting interim role which will help to build greater awareness and support for Christian Aid Scotland’s work through the media, social media and our website. During the assignment the role holder will sell in stories and react to media opportunities. In addition, the role holder will support the development of a number of communication projects including one featuring community photographers from Ethiopia.
About you
You are an experienced media officer with a track record in spotting opportunities to generate positive media coverage and an excellent knowledge and contacts with Scotland’s media. You’ll bring excellent writing skills and an ability to drive forward communications projects and campaigns. Above all you will use your media and PR insights to help us influence change and connect with churches and supporters across Scotland.

Care and Repair Edinburgh (CRE) is an independent charity who have been serving Edinburgh’s older and disabled community since 1985 and regularly complete over 6,000 jobs every year in homes across the city.
CRE offer a range of practical services to help older and disabled people repair, improve or adapt their property so that they may remain independent at home for as long as possible.
The Charity is a financially stable and viable organisation and has gone from strength to strength particularly over the past 5 years.
We are now looking to recruit a new Chair and additional Trustees with an range of skills and experience to support the direction of the organisation. Candidates skilled in Third Sector Leadership, Business Management, Finance, Marketing and Social Media, Charity Law, Social Care or Reablement would be of particular interest.
CRE welcome candidates who do not have Board experience as full induction and training will be provided.
As a Trustee, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, control and accountability of the Charity ensuring that its activities are in the interests of its beneficiaries. Trustees are also responsible for confirming the organisation complies with its governance, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
The board meets quarterly in Edinburgh (February, May, August and November), either face-to-face, via video chat, or as a hybrid of the two plus an additional AGM. Aside from the quarterly board meetings, additional time consideration is required to allow for reading of relevant papers, follow up on any action points, and attending occasional additional meetings, events, or strategy days. The average total time commitment is approximately 1-2 days per month for Trustees and 2-3 days per month for the Chair.
As a voluntary position, Trustees are not paid but travel and other expenses for attendance at meetings are reimbursed in line with CRE policy. As a local, inclusive charity we are keen this diversity continues to be reflected in our Board.
Pregnancy Counselling and Care (Scotland) is currently looking to recruit a Baby Bank Development Worker to support the running of our Baby Bank, to enable us to increase the capacity of the service.
We have recently moved to the Gyle Shopping Centre which is giving us greater space to work within and access to volunteers and baby items donations. • Work with external partners to support our digital events platform and associated ticketing process.

• Work closely with the University Events team to support the Union’s input across events such as Open Days and Applicant Days and Welcome Weeks.
• Work closely and collaboratively with the University’s student belonging programme, Be Connected.
• To monitor, evaluate and report on Union events to effectively grow and develop them for the future.
The Halliday Foundation meets both the immediate, practical needs and providing sustainable pathways out of poverty for people impacted by homelessness and deprivation - primarily in east end of Glasgow.
Using volunteers, the Halliday Foundation designs and delivers services to build self-esteem, reduce isolation, connect communities and develop employability skills. We build strong, trusting relationships free from stigma and judgement among the people who use our services, with donors and local community partners.
