The post will engage with communities in Perth and Dundee, finding practical ways that people can participate in active travel; mapping these out in co-designed events with 3rd Sector, council and community organisations. We will offer support and resources to facilitate a range of activities including Dr Bike, Led rides, Cycle Training, Bike Loans, as well as skills and maintenance training.
The post will be responsible for building relationships with these communities and key stakeholders to articulate these barriers as an Active travel Action Plan and a key role in empowering these communities to start walking cycling and wheeling more often as a first choice for travel thereby empowering their communities to reduce heath and transport inequalities and build stronger communities.
The Officer will work with the Cycle Friendly Officer, Social Cycle Officer and Communities Manager to provide advice to organisations on opportunities to dovetail with this programme in schools, campus and community settings to share cycling and infrastructure best practice, as well as funding opportunities.
The work is based in Perth Bike Station with travel to Dundee.

Citizens Advice Bureau (Grangemouth & Bo’ness) Ltd. based in Grangemouth, is an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic and specialist advice and support to local people.
The Welfare Rights Officer will contribute to this service by supporting volunteers and providing specialist assistance and advocacy to clients at all stages of the social security benefit claiming process, including disputing decisions.
This requires the post holder to have experience of dealing with complex casework, submitting mandatory reconsiderations on behalf of applicants, and representation at appeal tribunals.

It is the product of the vision of local agencies and providers who saw a need for accessible and specialist legal services for clients served by the Third Sector in Fife . These founding agencies are now our partners as we seek to provide for those with unmet legal need(s).
Fife Law Centre operates as a Board which sustains and supports a private legal firm, Fife Community Law Ltd, which itself is regulated by the Law Society of Scotland.
The purpose of the Board is to set the strategic direction of, and secure the resources for, Fife Law Centre, and to work with the Principal Solicitor to support the delivery of services.
The areas of interest which we are seeking to cover include awareness of Third Sector organisations and their purposes in Fife, as well as statutory bodies such as local government and health. We would also welcome experience in legal practice. Current objectives relate to cases of Homelessness, Welfare Law Changes, Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence. Cases in other fields are dealt with at the discretion of the Principal Solicitor.
The Board meets 4/5 times a year in formal setting, and has previously operated with two sub-groups – Strategy and Resources. Working as part of the LWMS, the post holder will develop Healthy Schools Plus and the family engagement service arm of the Healthy Schools approach throughout Lanarkshire. The Bike Station is Edinburgh and Perth’s leading bicycle recycling and cycling promotion charity. Purpose of Role
The Cycling Friendly Employer Award is a national award scheme, administered by Cycling Scotland, open to all organisations in Scotland. The award supports businesses and organisations who wish to encourage cycling as a healthy, sustainable and accessible way to travel to work.
The role of the Cycling Friendly Officer is to identify and support organisations in Perth and Dundee through the award process.
