We are looking for two enthusiastic and dedicated Participation and Children’s Rights Workers to join our new Bairnshoose Implementation Team. Barnahus, or Child’s House, is a multi-agency and child-focused response for victims and witnesses of violence. Children 1st use the name Bairnshoose to identify the model of Barnahus as it will apply in Scotland.
Working with our Bairnshoose Policy and Practice Lead you will capture the voices of children, young people and their families with lived experience of child protection and justice processes, to ensure that the Barnahus model that is developed for Scotland is child centred and developed in partnership with children and young people.
You will play the vital role of ensuring that the feedback, views and experiences of children and young people are systemically gathered at various points of their experience of the child protection and/or justice processes. One post will be based in Glasgow, and gather feedback and capture stories from agreed local authorities in the West, the other post will be based in Edinburgh with similar responsibility for capturing stories in the East of Scotland.
As this is a new project, the geographic areas and remit of the roles may vary across the lifetime of the project, however initially there will be particular focus on gathering feedback from children and young people who have experienced Joint Investigative Interview, forensic examination, and/or given evidence in court, including the High Courts in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
As well as supporting children and young people to share their stories, a key aspect of your role will be to collate the feedback, support the evaluation of key messages and enable these to be shared using different mediums; within a wide range of meetings, events and forums. You will also support young people and parents or carers to develop Bairnshoose advisory groups, to enable ongoing engagement in the development of the model across Scotland.
This is a fixed term, full time 35 hours a week post, funded initially until 31 May 2021. One post based in Edinburgh, one post based in Glasgow.
For further information and an informal discussion please feel free to contact Anna O’Reilly on email: email@example.com or 077386 42617
