Scripture Union Scotland's vision is to see the children and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are a national charity, with around 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools, outdoor activity centres, and churches.

We are seeking a Regional Worker to deliver SU Ministry across the Independent School sector in the West of Scotland, and in the state sector in Renfrewshire & Inverclyde. This full-time post may be shared by two suitable applicants: Independent Schools West (3 days per week) and Renfrewshire & Inverclyde (2 days per week).

Working closely with existing staff in Scotland and volunteers, the worker will be expected to

• develop and oversee SU Scotland’s ministry in schools, particularly through the informal curriculum and SU groups

• play a leading part in developing weekend and week-long residentials for young people.

• working with local churches to promote church & community mission

• help children and young people be disciples of Jesus.

We are looking for candidates with experience of schools work and Christian ministry with children and/or young people; people who have led teams of volunteers and are confident communicators of Biblical truth with a wide age range of young people.

Candidates should be willing to work from an office base in Glasgow and be prepared to support SU ministry in all parts of the area. The Independent Schools in the West are mostly around Glasgow. Some part time admin help is provided.

For this post, it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland’s ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.

The successful applicant(s) will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
