Our Midlothian service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join our busy, friendly team, which delivers support across Midlothian. Working from our base in Dalkeith, you will join an established team of Family Support Workers and a Parental Peer Support Worker, to offer a range of supports to children, young people, and their families, with specific remit to support Young Carers and children affected by parental alcohol and substance use by working directly with their whole family.

Children 1st offer relational support, taking a restorative, strengths based and trauma informed approach to enable individuals and families to achieve their outcomes. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in whole family systems approach, with a sound knowledge of the impact of substance use on parenting and children.

You will have a lead role within the team in co-ordinating and undertaking assessments of families and in creating outcome focused work plans, which ensure that the safety and wellbeing of children is enhanced. You will be experienced in working collaboratively with families, as part of a team and alongside a range of professionals.

We can offer you quality support and supervision; workload management; access to a range of opportunities for professional development and an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and families. The team will at times support families who may require support in the early mornings and evenings, and this would be planned in advance.

If you are an experienced professional with a Social Work, Community work, Counselling or other appropriate qualification, as well as experience of delivering family group conferences, we want to hear from you.
