Role

TCV – The Community Volunteering Charity

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For 60 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone. This role supports TCV in enabling people to improve their health, well-being and local community.

TCV is looking for someone who can engage with communities in Smithton and Culloden, Inverness as part of the People's Health Trust funded Local People project. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual who can engage local people in identifying what positive changes they’d like to make in their community, prioritising issues and delivering solutions. As the priorities which the project delivers are steered by the needs identified from the local community, the activities will be varied and creative.

The Project Officer will have a key role in working with the committed and enthusiastic, established local community decision-making group and will administrate the associated community grant fund. You will need to be confident in engaging and facilitating people and chairing meetings. You will also need to be capable of working independently and on your own initiative.

So, if you are passionate about empowering local people to address their local health, well-being and community issues; and you want to be part of a vibrant TCV team, then this could be the role for you? This position will be offered until the 12th January, 2021 with a strong possibility of this being extended for subsequent years. The Local People’s Programme is a multi year program, it has been running for 6 years and is reviewed and funded annually by the People’s Health Trust. The position is for 28 hours a week, which will include working some evenings and weekends.

Please download the Job Description and Person Specification via the link below and submit application forms by the 8th July, 2020. Interviews will take place by Zoom and the date is to be confirmed.
