Lothian Autistic Society is the primary provider of support for school age children with autism in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Our Holiday Activity Programmes and Saturday Adventure Teams offer great opportunities for autistic children to get together and socialise, learning through playing together how to cope with a very confusing world. We also offer shorter opportunities for young people to learn and grow through Basecamp, Basecamp2, and Branch Out. Alongside this their families get a much needed break from caring. The Society was founded by parents and our families remain at the core of our planning and thinking. Working with them to provide the best care possible for their children remains key to our success.
We are looking for someone to fill one of the key roles in the society. You will be responsible for all the society’s direct services across the Lothians, making sure they meet the needs of the children and young people who attend and their families and carers, and the expectations of commissioners, funders and regulatory bodies. Operating under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer you will be responsible for making sure services run smoothly, efficiently and effectively.
You will need to have a good understanding of what it means to run services for vulnerable children, a willingness to work flexibly (it is important that you are available during a large part of the school holiday periods and weekends) and a strong commitment to making life better for autistic children and their families. You will be the Society’s lead Officer on Child Welfare and the ‘fit’ manager in the context of the Society’s registrations with the Care Inspectorate. You will be line manager for 2 members of staff and lead on the recruitment of up to 100 sessional workers.
You will have the opportunity to join a small, dedicated and successful team and lead a great company of sessional workers across the Lothians. We have a number of new initiatives planned for the next few months and you will have a major part in making these happen. This is a great opportunity to play an important role in acknowledging and promoting our achievements with us.
