Strong and pro-active financial management is a pre-requisite in supporting Carers Link to achieve our vision and for the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
As such, the role of Finance & Business Support is a vital ‘cog in the wheel’ through strategic leadership of our financial management, reporting and accounting systems as well as the day-to-day management of our finance functions. You will have responsibility for payroll, financial contracts, invoice payments, expense claims, preparing monthly management accounts and of course working with our auditors at year-end.
You will also provide some limited Business Support to the Operational Manager, CEO and Board of Directors, helping when necessary with Governance, HR and Activity/Event Co-ordination.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone that wants to use their skill with numbers within an organisation that looks to make a difference in the lives of local families. You will have strong numeracy and analysis skills, a keen eye for detail and a high standard of accuracy. Whilst you will work as part of a team, you need to be self-motivated, able to concentrate in a busy office or work alone from home and be able to work to deadlines.
Importantly, we are TRUSTED by local carers so would also like to hear from you if you support our Values (carerslink.org.uk/vision-and-values) and especially if you have a positive, energetic and ‘can do’ approach!
What we offer
The staff at Carers Link are or have been carers ourselves, so we recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life and will try and support staff in a variety of ways. Most notably, we offer hybrid working with staff working from home (if they prefer) 2-3 days each week as well as flexible working such as compressed hours or other such arrangements.
Staff receive 28 flexible annual leave days plus 4 fixed days at Christmas/New Year. In addition, staff receive 1 day per quarter to support your personal wellbeing, giving a total leave allowance of 36 days. This rises by 5 days after 5 years. (All pro-rata for part-time posts.)
We contribute 5% of salary towards your pension, provide training and development and generally try and be as supportive and welcoming as we can!
Do you have experience of working in the field of employability? Are you keen to work in an organisation that makes a difference? We are looking for someone self-motivated and good at supporting adults and young adults in achieving their employment & learning goals.
In the field of employability, no carer should be left behind. Whether a young adult carer just starting to think of career or further education or an adult carer looking to return to the workplace, your role is to help them get there.
As Employability Co-ordinator, you will deliver all aspects of the employability pipeline for carers in this new project. You need to be able to ‘hit the ground running’ but there will be plenty of support to help you within Carers Link and local Employability partners.
We now operate on a Hybrid basis so remote work is possible, however, you must be able to travel to our offices in Milngavie (less than 25 minutes from Glasgow centre by train) and meet with carers or placement providers throughout East Dunbartonshire and neighbouring areas.
Are you self-motivated and good at motivating others? Do you have an interest in health and wellbeing? Are you keen to work in an organisation that makes a difference?
As Carer Wellbeing Worker, your aim is to provide carers with information on the many services and networks available to them. You will act as a central ‘connection point’, providing help, advice, support and links to our other services as well as the range of community initiatives available.
Your role is also about empowering carers to learn about their rights and options, taking a holistic view of their lives; encouraging them to acknowledge the impact of caring. You will be providing 1-1 support, encouragement and motivation to make even the smallest of changes to their lives.
You must be able to travel to our offices in Milngavie (less than 25 minutes from Glasgow centre by train) and throughout East Dunbartonshire. You will also be able to partly remote-work on an ongoing basis.
Successful applicant subject to PVG membership/disclosure.
Up for a new challenge? Want to make a difference?
Love young people and are good at listening?
Self-motivated and like to keep busy?
We are looking for a Young Carer Support Worker to join our team. Covering all ages from 5 to 25 this will be a busy and varied job covering raising awareness within schools, working with families & providing 1-1 support with a young person. One day might be spent encouraging a young person to open up, the next you might be delivering wellbeing parcels or organising school holiday fun activities. You will be working across all age groups, whether supporting someone in Primary School or helping a Young Adult get into University, College, Apprenticeships or their first job.
The successful applicant will need to be an enthusiastic individual that delivers; a self-starter with excellent communication and organisation skills. You need to be passionate about making a difference to young carers and their families but also able to demonstrate what that difference is.
You will be completely working from home initially but must be able to travel to our offices in Milngavie (less than 25 minutes from Glasgow centre by train) and throughout East Dunbartonshire. As restrictions ease, you may still be able to partly remote-work on an ongoing basis.
We make a difference to family carers in East Dunbartonshire. We are currently seeking a Treasurer to help drive our strategic plans forward as we plan for the retirement of our current Treasurer who steps down in November 2022.
You would be part of a small and local board of management (currently 9 members) all with a mix of business, health sector, HR, marketing and voluntary sector skills and experiences. Importantly, we also involve people with experience of providing unpaid care to family members as either an adult or as a young carer.
Our Board meets 5 times a year (currently via Zoom) and there are also 3 Financial Sub Group meetings in-between. The Treasurer will be expected to attend at least the majority of these and also to report to the organisation's wider members at the annual general meeting. Between meetings and e-mails, we anticipate involvement being no more than 5-10 hours over the course of a month.
