Healthy Valleys is a community-led organisation committed to providing outstanding local services that help preserve the mental and physical health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities living in rural South Lanarkshire. In 2023 we launched ‘Gear Up’ a new social enterprise dedicated to empowering communities through cycling, walking, and wheeling.

Due to successfully securing new funding from Smarter Choices Smarter Places, and the Coalburn, Douglas & Glespin Community Fund, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and energetic Gear Up Community & Team Lead who can drive the growth of this exciting enterprise.

You’ll lead on the development of our bike hire scheme and community hubs, manage the small staff and volunteer team, and drive the development of partnerships and commercial opportunities.

This role is subject to a PVG Disclosure Scotland check, which will be paid by Healthy Valleys.

Due to the requirement to travel around rural communities, the postholder must have a full, clean driving licence, access to their own transport (with appropriate business insurance) and be prepared to drive the Healthy Valleys van.

About you

Are you an experienced event organiser looking for a new challenge? Do you want to use your skills to make a real difference to the lives of myeloma patients?

We are looking for someone with event management expertise who has excellent communication and relationship building skills to join the team responsible for delivering our programme of events. You’ll have good negotiation and presentation skills, a focus on detail and the ability to manage a variety of tasks often to tight deadlines.

About the role

The Information Events Coordinator will deliver our information events programme consisting of face-to-face and online events hosted by the team and held throughout the UK, developing the strategy for the programme and implementing event activity with the aim to increase participation and attendance.

You’ll be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of the events, including marketing and promotion, as well as logistics and resourcing. You’ll be required to attend several weekend events throughout the year so should be able to travel across the UK as needed.

Health All Round aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in the South West area of Edinburgh. The post holder will be responsible for setting up/ delivering a range of community arts groups, managing volunteers and working alongside other local agencies.

HAR has been delivering a range of high quality services for over 30 years in order to improve the health and wellbeing of local people and reduce health inequalities within South West and South Central Edinburgh.

Using a community development approach HAR works with local GP’s and other allied professionals to promote the social model of health and support the most vulnerable people in our community to improve their health outcomes. An average of 250 people per week access HAR services.

The Art for Health Project Worker will support the delivery of our new creative arts programme to support individuals to improve their health and well – being through involvement in the arts.

ASH Scotland is the leading charity campaigning for effective tobacco control legislation in Scotland. The Role

Your contribution will be vital in shaping both the long-term strategic vision and the day-to-day operational plans of the organisation. You'll assist in managing resources effectively and participate in evaluating and reporting on the outcomes of these plans.

Your responsibilities will extend to making strategic and operational decisions, ensuring effective implementation with the appropriate resource. You'll play a key role in developing policies related to smoking, health, and wellbeing, taking the lead on some and supporting others as needed.

Another important aspect of the role involves cohesive communication within the organisation and across teams, helping to ensure that information flows smoothly and effectively. Additionally, you'll be engaging with external stakeholders, managing relationships and partnerships on behalf of ASH Scotland, whilst identifying and developing opportunities to generate income and secure funding for the organisation.
