The Team

Our Consultancy team are leaders in the industry and provide expert analysis and insight to drive the decarbonisation of homes in Scotland. The team works across a range of disciplines including analysing housing stock and applying the latest insights in behavioural science, with monitoring and evaluation specialists evidencing the impact of projects.

The team carry out research and support projects to make a low carbon lifestyle a reality for all. This can include area-based projects focused on domestic energy efficiency and a range of other decarbonisation projects involving low carbon heat and renewables.

The Role

Your role will ensure our work continues to be underpinned by outstanding research and analysis. You’ll use your excellent grounding in qualitative and quantitative research techniques to conduct both technical and social research that underpins reports and recommendations for clients.

Using your keen eye for detail you’ll ensure that the research the team produces and maintains the highest quality. Whether this is when you are conducting interviews, developing and analysing surveys, or carrying out desk research – you’ll be using your clear communication skills to ensure data is gathered and analysed effectively.

The research you undertake and support on is critical to Changeworks achieving its strategic aim to accelerate the decarbonisation of Scotland’s home to help tackle climate change. Home Energy Officer

We have an exciting opportunity in the Home Energy Scotland Highlands & Islands team for a self-motivated individual to provide energy advice and support to householders in Orkney to manage these impacts on their lives.

As our new Home Energy Officer, you will have the drive and capability to advise householders on energy efficiency, renewables and affordable warmth to help them keep their homes warm as high energy costs continue to impact on the cost of living.

You will provide clear, independent and impartial advice to support householders to make informed decisions to save energy and carbon. If you are an excellent communicator, numerate and with a good knowledge of energy use in the home you will be well suited to this role. There will be a requirement to travel, sometimes overnight. You must be able to work well within the team, as well as work effectively on your own to help achieve team targets.

This is a new role within an existing and expanding team to deliver the EcoCosi service supporting homeowners to decarbonise their homes. Homeowners face multiple barriers to improving the carbon footprint of their homes, this is where our retrofit service comes in. We work with homeowners to enable them to improve the energy efficiency of their homes through tailored advice, support and services. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we expand the service.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual with experience of coordinating domestic retrofit projects from customer engagement and initial whole house survey to handover, completion and after care. As a skilled communicator with outstanding customer service skills, you will excel in helping homeowners to identify which retrofit measures are needed and suitable for achieving their individual requirements and support them through installation projects. You’ll collaborate with colleagues from across the organisation to deliver a quality service and will always protect the clients’ interests and make sure works and processes comply to the relevant standards.

You’ll use your strong relationship building skills to work effectively with various partners and be confident communicating with various stakeholders.

You’ll already have an understanding of the complexities involved with delivering retrofit projects, such as driving quality and managing complex timelines. You’ll be supported by project administrators and work closely with our internal Quality Assurance and Quantity Surveying teams.

In 2022 Changeworks launched our three year strategy to drive the organisation forward until 2025. The strategy focuses Changeworks’ efforts on a single objective – to spearhead the decarbonisation of homes in Scotland. The Head of Buildings Contracts will play a key role in driving our strategy forward.

You will lead the delivery of energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects across Scotland including Local Authority Area Based Schemes and Social Housing Buildings Retrofit programmes. Line managing the Buildings Contract Programme Management team and the Built Environment Technical Team, you will direct the project teams and provide support to successfully deliver projects. You will provide technical leadership on contractual compliance, project planning, procurement, quality assurance, ISO 9001 and industry standards (PAS 2035). You will apply your professional expertise and experience to manage and lead your team, providing support and leadership with commercial management and service delivery. You will foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.

As a Senior Manager, you will play a strong and active role in leadership and growth of Changeworks, engaging strategically across the organisation. You will contribute to organisational planning and delivery, and will promote the vision, mission and value of Changeworks both internally and externally. You will be joining Changeworks at a very exciting time as we continue to drive forward our strategy to help us scale our work and achieve our ambitious goal of accelerating the decarbonisation of homes across Scotland.

About you

Ideally, you will be qualified to degree level in a construction related subject or able to demonstrate relevant experience. You will have experience in a construction related Project Management role, a knowledge and application of construction contracts and an understanding of PAS2030/2035. You will have a track record of excellent commercial management and extensive experience in Forms of Contract (NEC and/or SBCC/JCT) within the construction industry and major programmes environment.

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Consultant has come up in our busy and growing consultancy team, to cover a maternity leave.

About you

You will have a demonstrable track record of managing data-informed projects with a high level of knowledge about data analysis and data management. You will be experienced in using tools such as GIS systems and R and RStudio. Familiarity with environmental and housing datasets, and in designing databases, is a bonus.

We are particularly looking for a person who likes being a ‘data specialist’ in a non-data environment. You are enthusiastic and will enjoy learning more about the energy efficiency and low carbon sector and help Changeworks deliver its ambitious decarbonisation goals.

The Role

This role is based within our Consultancy Team and will report to the Principal Consultant. Our busy Consultancy team works across the sustainability agenda and has a particular specialism related to energy efficiency, heat decarbonisation and renewables in the built environment, fuel poverty and pro-environmental behaviour change. You will work across a diversity of Changeworks projects and with external clients from different sectors.

You will draw on a range of experience to manage a team of three (two data analysts and a data consultant) and help them deliver data-informed projects using a variety of tools (e.g. R programming, GIS software). You will help clients to manage the necessary data sharing agreements, contracts, and permissions, to ensure a smooth flow and transfer of data between parties. You will support our Monitoring and Impact Evaluation team to design studies that capture and analyse monitoring data (e.g. solar energy production, room temperature) from projects Changeworks delivers, and help the data team communicate analysis results to a wide audience with graphs and maps using data visualisation principles.

You’ll have experience of delivering advice, and an understanding of the challenges of working with vulnerable, low-income households. You will also provide facilities, IT and other central services support for Changeworks’ Inverness office and provide general support for Home Energy Scotland advice centre staff activities.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Advisor in the South East Advice Team to support our dedicated team of Energy Advisors.

As a Senior Advisor you will have the opportunity to support a team of energy advisors to deliver expert advice on a range of topics including behaviour change, measures & appliances, renewable technologies, transport and water. You will also support the team to maximise their opportunity to refer for energy efficiency schemes, including the Scottish Government’s Warmer Homes Scotland scheme.

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to coach and supervise staff coupled with the ability to give meaningful feedback to improve our customer service and increase the number of customers that take action.

You will be a confident and clear communicator with the ability to motivate and lead a team to reach targets. You will be approachable with a can-do attitude to resolving challenges along with a responsible and reliable disposition.

You will have an excellent understanding of the importance of high-quality customer service along with skills which allow you to deal with escalated enquiries or low-level complaints managing them to resolution.
