East Dunbartonshire Women’s Aid is a registered charity providing information, support and refuge to women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit an office-based Women’s Support Worker who will be committed to our aims and values and who will bring extensive experience of providing a crisis support service to women.

The main role of the post holder will be to offer 1-1 support to women affected by domestic abuse by phone, text, email and by appointment in our office. In addition, there will be a requirement to carry out risk assessments, provide safety planning and work in partnership with other services and professionals as appropriate.

Applicants are required to have, and demonstrate, the appropriate skills, experience and qualifications that are relevant to the duties outlined in the job description and person specification.

Candidates should have an understanding of, and commitment to, the feminist analysis of domestic abuse (or a willingness to learn), experience of interagency working and be willing to work as part of a collective where all staff share management responsibilities within a non-hierarchical structure. Posts are subject to a successful PVG scheme check, suitable references and completion of a satisfactory 6-month induction period.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Women’s Support Worker who will be committed to our aims and values and who will bring experience of providing a crisis support service to women.

This post is for Maternity Cover.We hope that the suitable candidate will be able to start mid-August to allow a short handover with the current post holder. The primary responsibilities of this post are to provide an outreach service, deliver group work programmes and to provide support to families living in our satellite refuges within the Bearsden and Milngavie areas of East Dunbartonshire. In addition, they will work closely with partner organisations, promoting the service and raising awareness.

This post has existed since 2014 and is currently funded by the Scottish Government via the ‘Delivering Equally Safe’ fund. At the moment, we have funding secured up to the end of March 2025. We will be actively seeking continuation of funding which will allow this maternity cover to be extended to the end of May 2025.

Whilst the main office base is in Kirkintilloch, the post holder will be required to travel throughout East Dunbartonshire therefore a degree of flexibility is essential.

Glasgow Women’s Aid provides information, support and temporary accommodation for women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. We have refuge accommodation, follow on services and outreach services both for women and children across Glasgow.

We are seeking a Communications Worker to support us with our external communications, including our branding, media presence and digital marketing. This is a standalone role where you will be part of the shared services team within Glasgow Women’s Aid working to support the running of the organisation and our services.

You will be responsible for delivering tailored communications to reach specific audiences and raise awareness of the support available from Glasgow Women’s Aid. You will be proficient in a range of software and technology to allow you to do this.

Due to the nature of our organisation and this important role, it is essential that you understand the feminist perspective of domestic abuse and that you can align with our values of being a single sex woman only service. It is also essential that you are

educated to degree level in marketing, media, communications, ITC or similar, or have extensive work experience.

This will involve providing innovative and creative 1-1 and group work support. You will provide person centred support to women as they move through their journey and will advocate to make sure that women’s voices are heard and their needs are met.

It is essential that you have experience of providing support to women who have experienced gender-based violence. A suitable qualification that meets with SSSC Housing Support registration is also required (examples would be HNC Social Services or SVQ Level 3 Social Services and Healthcare). The nature of our work requires a commitment to the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and to the values of Glasgow Women’s Aid.
