Main duties and responsibilities
VOCAL - Voice of Carers Across Lothian - seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Carer Support Practitioner to join its busy team to provide casework support to carers, with a specific focus on South East Edinburgh. The post holder will support unpaid carers to access person-centred support for their caring situation, health and wellbeing and personal development.
VOCAL is a carer-led organisation and provides a wide range of services to support unpaid carers in their caring role. The post-holder will be expected to work as part of a team, improve outcomes for carers and maximise uptake of VOCAL services.
Applicants will evidence excellent people, and communication skills, casework and person-centred support work. Applicants will also demonstrate awareness of the diverse range of caring situations, the impact of caring on peoples’ lives and barriers carers face at different points of the caring journey. Good working knowledge of health and social care will be expected.

Bridges Project is a leading youth work charity that helps young people aged 12-25 in East Lothian and Midlothian overcome challenges and adapt to adulthood. For nearly 40 years, we have helped young people develop their life skills, improve their educational attainment and move into employment or further education.
We have a vacancy for an Independent Living Support Worker to provide holistic, bespoke and person-centred one-to-one and group support to 40 young people aged 15-25 in East Lothian with the aim of:

• Preventing people from losing their home

The successful candidate will deliver a professional homemaker service to young tenants and prospective young tenants on an outreach and centre basis. We provide support to individuals to maintain and develop their home and community life. Support is provided to individuals in their own home or 24 hour supported tenancies.

The successful candidate will play a senior and supervisory role in the operation of our Esmond Street Service: a 22 place supported living project for older people with learning disability and/or complex needs. The successful applicant will have experience of support planning and review systems, and will be in a position to work on a shift-rota basis. She/he will have experience in a supported living setting, the ability to work on their own initiative, and have a positive, empowering and flexible approach to the support of people with learning disabilities. The post requires the successful candidate to be involved in the supervision and development of the staff team; including training, developing systems, mentoring and auditing. She/he should also possess an appropriate qualification, or be willing and able to achieve this within an agreed timescale.

The objective of the project is to support the recovery pathway for individuals who are either exiting residential rehabilitation or community recovery programmes, who are in need of additional support within a housing support environment.
Supported people will enter the service post detox with a view to re-connecting with family, friends and their local communities. They will explore options around education, training, employment and health.

Routes is an evidence-based youth work programme which supports young people aged 12-26 years affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use. Routes offers a mix of one-to-one and group support, along with a busy programme of activities and events bringing young people together. There is no time limit to their involvement, allowing trust to develop with workers and other young people, and all support is individually tailored to each young person.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team on FDAMH wide matters, ensuring that your Mental Health experience is included in key organisation decisions.
The Senior Service Manager will be a skilled, knowledgeable and experienced individual. You must have substantive previous operational management, mental health experience and excellent communication skills.
