Following the recent restructuring of our Services, Technical and Factoring teams, we have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead and support our Repairs Team.
Managing a small staff team, the Repairs Manager will be responsible for the delivery of a best value response repairs service, ensuring reporting and administrative compliance with legislative and regulatory standards and best practice. Fostering a proactive team culture that delivers a customer-centred service, demonstrates ownership, accountability and ensures the successful delivery and achievement of operational and performance standards.
The successful candidate will be performance driven, and will demonstrate role flexibility, proficient IT skills, excellent communication, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills. A relevant qualification in repairs/maintenance/construction is essential along with extensive experience in a response repairs role. The Repairs Services Manager will demonstrate effective team leadership, resource planning and be a positive ambassador for promoting a culture of quality, responsive customer service and engagement.
Key Tasks include:
1. Driving excellent customer services, managing service satisfaction and mitigating complaints.
2. Leading Response Repairs Services, including: tenant repairs, common repairs, void management, termination of tenancy, decanting, medical adaptations and alterations and improvements.
3. Leading the preparation of procurement business cases in compliance with procurement strategy and authority levels, ensuring timely preparation of work specifications and tenders / evaluations, to meet project planning and governance objectives.
4. Leading the appointment of relevant consultants, development of service agreements / contract, and performance. Scrutinising invoices / valuation requests for accuracy and value for money within delegated authority.
5. Matrix management with Tenancy Services Manager to train, develop and support frontline services staff to deliver frontline repairs service.
6. First point of contact for Out of Hours emergencies.
7. Effective management and support of Repairs Services team, including annual performance reviews, SMART Team Plans, regular Planning & Supervision Sessions.
8. Supporting Repairs Services Team to work in compliance with delegated authority levels, and operational implementation of procurement strategy.
9. Lead co-ordination of Emergency/Contingency Procedures.
10. Monitoring and reviewing contractors and contracts for compliance, probity, best value and service quality.
11. Budgetary forecasting and control.
12. Developing and implementing effective repairs management strategies / initiatives / KPIs/ PIs/ policies / procedures, mitigating risk and demonstrating compliance with governance, legislative and regulatory requirements.
13. Leading risk assessment, performance and compliance reporting and preparation of MC/ governance reports.

BACKGROUND:
The Discovery College is an inclusive service based on the principle that connection, community, peer support and learning can be a transformative experience. It is moving into its second year of operation. To date the work has been co-delivered and developed alongside those with lived experience and in collaboration with Spirit Advocacy, Scottish Recovery Network, NHS Highland, Caithness Mental Health Group and Habitus Collective all supporting in the planning, building, and envisioning of this new development for Highland. College courses are open for all to enrol. Our goal is to create an environment for people to come together – be it those who identify as experiencing or having experienced a mental health, or substance use issue, to those who want support in order to move on.
We tailor and target courses and drop-ins for men, Disabled people, LGBTQ+ folks, people who are neuro-divergent, young people and people from ethnic and cultural minorities. Currently the Discovery College operates across multiple hubs in Inverness, Caithness, and Lochaber which we intend to develop further in partnership with a variety of organisations.

Working In partnership across various authority areas in Scotland, Children 1st are developing Bairns Hoose based on the European Barnahus model. Barnahus is a child-friendly, multidisciplinary, and interagency model of justice, care and recovery for children who are victims and witnesses of all forms of violence. A place where all Police, Social Work, Health and Court services are based under one roof. Children receive a coordinated trauma responsive plan to support their journey through the care, protection, and justice system. The aim of the model is to; prevent re-traumatisation caused by delayed and disjointed investigation and court proceedings, to keep children safe, allow them access to fair justice and to help them recover from the trauma of their ordeal.

Transforming the experience of child victims and witnesses in Scotland
Children 1st are looking for an exceptional and experienced operational leader to become our Bairns Hoose coordinator/service manager in Aberdeenshire. You will co-ordinate children’s journey through the Bairns Hoose, managing the space, liaising with agencies on behalf of children and their families and leading a team of advocacy and trauma recovery workers. Working within the Aberdeenshire Bairnshoose Development Group alongside Social Work, Police, Health and Justice colleagues to deliver on the ambition to offer children a trauma sensitive, rights-based and recovery focussed response to their care, protection, justice and recovery needs.
The Bairns Hoose is based on the European Barnahus, a child-friendly, multi-disciplinary, and interagency model of justice, care and recovery for children who are victims and witnesses of all forms of violence. A carefully designed place where all services and supports are child centred, rights- based and recovery focussed with Police, Social Work, Health, Court and recovery support services based under one roof.
This service demands a leader who is driven by children’s rights, is passionately committed to trauma responsive models and who has a background in delivering child centred, family minded support and multiagency services. You will lead our team of Rights, Advocacy and Trauma Recovery Workers and ensure the effective and efficient running of the Bairns Hoose. As a member of the Aberdeenshire Bairns Hoose partnership, you will build on the progress made to date and work towards achieving fully the aspiration of a Bairns Hoose for children and their families. As a key member of our Bairns Hoose Team, you will support our ambitions to have the highest quality Bairns Hoose delivering the greatest impact in the lives of children and families.
